Major El Nino Brewing Date: 8/14/97
For those of you who are not aware, a major El Nino event is brewing in the
Pacific. Temperature anomalies and other variables in the Pacific are much
higher than they have been this time of year for any prior event in the last
50 years. Whether it peaks early or continues to grow is uncertain. However,
most forecasts call for continued warm conditions into early next year. This
could have dramatic effects on many marine and coastal ecosystems.
