Coral diseases

Hi Coral Listers,

        I am a Ph.D student at U.C. Berkeley's Dept. of Geography currently
putting together a dissertation proposal on the biogeography of coral reef
diseases.  I was wondering if anyone has come across documentation or
evidence in the historic record of coral diseases prior to the industrial
revolution?  If you have any information on this topic please contact me.
