Coral reef bleaching workshop

The National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD)
is concerned about the threat posed by bleaching to the coral reefs of the
Middle Eastern region, especially the Red Sea, the northern Arabian Sea
and the Arabian Gulf. Preliminary investigations and monitoring programmes
indicate that this phenomenon is already present in most of the region and
is escalating.

In view of the seriousness of the situation NCWCD has been given the
responsibility to call for a workshop consisting of international and
