TOM in Sediments

Dear All,

I want to obtain measurements of total organic matter from reef sediments
using the Difference on Ignition method. I am aware that that due to the
nature of sediment and the large quantities of carbonate that results may
be innacurate if temperature were to exceed 500 C due to combustion of
CaCO3.

Can anybody suggest a particular protocol that will be of help?
