Funding is currently available through a project with the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis for a student intern. The student will gather and assemble data from the literature on the occurrence of Caribbean reef corals during four separate time intervals: Pleistocene, Holocene, Historical, and modern ecological studies. Time permitting, the student will help in the analysis of the data.

Eligibility is confined to students currently enrolled at an academic institution, and the internship must be completed in house at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. The paid internship is for 10 weeks. A $3000 stipend is given, and may be used for transportation, lodging and per diem. The student will take up the internship as soon as possible, but no later than the end of January 2001.

Interested parties should contact Dr. J.M. Pandolfi, Department of Paleobiology, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C., U.S.A.
