Monitoring at Flower Garden Banks

An announcement has been posted by the Minerals Management Service (U.S.
Department of Interior) asking for "Statements of Capability" from those
entities interested in being considered for a contract to conduct coral
reef monitoring activities at the East and West Flower Garden Banks in
the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.  The announcement can be viewed at the

The potential contract is jointly funded by MMS and the Flower Garden
Banks National Marine Sanctuary, and will cover the next two years
(2002-2003) of monitoring activities associated with a long term
monitoring program that has been in effect since 1989.  General
