Coloured Pigments and Coral Bleaching?

kind of relevant to this discussion is that, if I remember
correctly, zooxanthella lose pigments during bleaching as well as being
expelled from the coral themselves. I guess the point is that the colour
change that occurs during bleaching is the result of many, possibly
distinct, physiological processes.
