For the past 8 years i have been using Hobo temp loggers by Onset Corp.  with 
a standard  $24 (approx) clear acrylic case made by Ikelite. It's  proven to 
be pretty bulletproof and the cases are readily available.. Call Ikelite at  
317-923 4523in the U>S> and ask for the screw top 3" waterproof case.. Good
