The response to my earlier message, copied below, has been quite overwhelming, and the requests far exceed the number of reprints I have available. For those who have requested the paper as a pdf I will send one, but bear in mind that the file is large (4.3 MB) and Zip compression doesn't help, so I hope that your email systems will handle it. For those requesting a printed copy I have requested additional reprints from the publisher and hope to hear in early January whether these can be made available. I hope to be able to respond to all the requests, especially to those from researchers in areas with limited access to the journal.

Thank you for your interest in the paper, which Barbara and I hope will help to stimulate discussion and research on the subject, and Seasons Greetings to everyone.

Steve Coles

Greetings Coral-listers:

For those who may be interested in a further development of some of the ideas presented in the paper by Hughes et al. (Science 301:929-932), Barbara Brown and I have recently published a review "Coral bleaching - capacity for acclimatization and adaptation" in Adv. Mar. Biol. 46:183-223. I have a limited number of reprints available for those who may not have ready access to the journal.
