The Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology announces it's
2004 Coral Molecular Biology Techniques Workshop

Dates:  August 2-13, 2004
Fee: US$2000 (covers lab supplies and workbook, housing, and meals)
Instructors:  HIMB faculty (Jo-Ann Leong, Brian Bowen, Ruth Gates, 
Teresa Lewis, Michael Rappe, Rob Toonen)

Topics:
DNA/RNA isolation
electrophoretic analysis of nucleic acids
PCR and primer design, quantitative PCR
DGGE/TGGE for zooxanthellae clade identification
microsatellite analysis
computer analysis of genetic data
immunoblotting techniques (cellular diagnostics)

Application Deadline:  March 31, 2004
Notification of acceptance:  April 16, 2004
Applicants must provide a letter of interest (2-page maximum), CV, and 
letter of recommendation from your graduate advisor or supervisor.  
Workshop certificate will be provided upon successful completion of 
the course.

Participants must cover their own travel expenses to Honolulu, 
Hawaii.  Travel arrangements to Coconut Island will be provided.  For
