[Coral-List] Education position at Flower Garden Banks NMS

The Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary seeks to fill the
following Education and Outreach position.  Please forward to interested

RS Information Systems (RSIS) is currently seeking candidates for an
Education Media Specialist position for the Flower Garden Banks National
Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS) office, located in Bryan/College Station,
Texas.  The Flower Garden Banks are located in the Gulf of Mexico 100
miles offshore of Galveston, and contain the northernmost coral reefs in
the continental United States.  Education and outreach efforts are
primarily directed at the conservation of coral reef ecosystems.  The
FGBNMS is one of 13 national marine sanctuaries administered by the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  RSIS provides
contractual services to NOAA and other governmental agencies.

The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of education and
outreach efforts for the sanctuary.  Responsibilities will include:

   * Develop and facilitate education and outreach programs, events and
     workshops.
   * Assist in the development of a redesigned sanctuary web site.
   * Maintain the sanctuary web site, including developing new content.
   * Develop interpretive, educational and informative materials,
     displays and programs.
   * Distribute literature and media in response to requests from
     constituents for information.
   * Prepare reports/publications such as newsletters and program
     updates.

The ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS, or equivalent experience, in
Marine Science, Resource Management, Science Education, Environmental
Education or related field.  Excellent oral and written communication
skills required, including ability to adapt content for all ages and to
a variety of formats such as web, video, newsletters, etc.  Web
authoring experience highly desirable.  Open water SCUBA certification a
plus.

Anticipated annual salary is approximately $40,000.
