Exciting opportunity to manage a large international project monitoring
coral reef health 
 
The Global Environmental Facility (GEF) has committed resources toward a
multi-million dollar project (2004-2009) on environmental change and coral
reefs to be administered through a partnership of the University of
Queensland, World Bank and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of
UNESCO. This exciting project aims to align the expertise and resources of
the coral reef community around key research questions related to the
resilience and vulnerability of coral reef ecosystems.

In this position you will be responsible for management of the project
office, including financial issues, contract management, research reporting,
developing effective scientific communication mechanisms as well as
coordinating with Centres of Excellence in Mexico, Zanzibar and the
Philippines, the Synthesis Panel based in Washington and other participants.


You should possess a postgraduate degree in science and/or management and
extensive specialist experience in management of a research centre or large
project and at least two areas of expertise relevant to project operations
(e.g. finance, personnel or scientific communication). International and
domestic travel will be required.

This is a fixed term, full-time appointment at HEW Level 8 for three years.
The remuneration package will be in the range of $67,181 - $75,579 (AuD) per
annum which includes employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
