Hi All,
The coral spawn on Bonaire this year was by our observations light. On the
evening of 5 Sept. one male colony of M. cavernosa was seen releasing sperm
at around 21:30 hours (local time). The colony was at a depth of
approximately 25m. The following day, 6 Sept., four male colonies of
Stephanocenia intersepta were seen spawning. Specifically, 2 colonies at a
depth of 35m spawned at 21:45, one colony in 25m at 22:05, and one colony in
10m at 22:20. All of the colonies showed only partial colony involvement in
the spawning (approximately 30-50%). This was the only spawning witnessed.
