Re: FW: Coral Reef goes to CourtThank you to all the coral list members who
have assisted the islanders of Guana Cay and their case about saving their
coral reef from this large-scale project on the tiny seven mile Guana Cay,
where the resident's environmental concerns were not being respected or
listened to.

Thanks in part to the hundreds of you who have offered to patiently share
and explain information with www.notesfromtheroad.com and the residents of
Great Guana Cay, An important court case has been won in that the Bahamian
Court of Appeal has allowed the Save Guana Cay Reef association to move
ahead with their legal challenge to the project. The next step will be a
judicial review before the Supreme Court to be heard before Jan. 31, 2006.

In the mean time, all development potentially impacting the reef has been
put to a halt.

The battle, however, is far from over as it is believed that scientific
advisors close to the developer and the Government of Bahamas do not believe
that nutrient enrichment from a golf course or sediment loading will effect
the reef just 45 feet from shore. It will be a long road ahead.

The coral reef versus the developer story was column one on every single
large newspaper in the Bahamas :

This is a great example of how the members of the coral list make a
difference. Congratulations to all of you.
