The University of the Virgin Islands is seeking applicants for 2 Research
Assistant Professors. Please see announcements below.




The University of the Virgin Islands is currently seeking applicants for a
Research Assistant Professor in Marine Biology.  The successful candidate
will develop and maintain an active extramurally-funded research program in
ecological connectivity of coral reef systems with a focus on Caribbean
marine organisms and will be part of a research group studying the
Bio-complexity of Caribbean Coral Reefs (BCCR), an NSF-EPSCoR funded
initiative. The successful candidate will also teach one undergraduate level
course per year. Other duties include institutional, departmental, and
community service and student advising.
 
Qualifications and requirements include a Ph.D. in a discipline appropriate
to the study the local and regional connectivity of coral reef organisms
with a focus on larval connectivity between islands/reefs/habitats,
ecological connectivity (movement or interaction) among reefs and associated
habitats by juvenile and adult fishes and/or invertebrates or the
connectivity between habitats with respect to nutrients and other
physio-chemical factors; experience in Caribbean preferred; and a strong
desire to involve undergraduate students in research.
 
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 for the academic
year, depending upon qualifications and experience.  Benefits include the
liberal TIAA-CREF or the Virgin Islands Government Retirement Plan, and a
comprehensive group medical, dental, and life insurance program.

on the Caribbean coral reef invertebrate fauna and will be part of a
research group studying the Biocomplexity of Caribbean Coral Reefs (BCCR),
an NSF-EPSCoR funded initiative. The successful candidate will also teach
one undergraduate level course per year. Other duties include institutional,
departmental, and community service as well as student advising.
 
Qualifications and requirements include a Ph.D. in a discipline appropriate
to the study of tropical marine invertebrates; training and expertise in
marine invertebrate biology and ecology with research areas of interest in
marine invertebrate systematics, ecology, life history, and/or population
dynamics; experience in the Caribbean preferred; and a strong desire to
involve undergraduate students in research.
 
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 for the Academic
