The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) is seeking a 
Development Director, to begin in mid-March 2005.  Job description includes, 
but is not limited to: 

  

  a.. Develop funding proposals supporting TIDE's annual, capital and 
programmatic needs.  Coordinate and tailor proposal templates to specific needs 
and prioritize proposal submissions.   
  b.. Research new proposal prospects and work with appropriate program staff 
to 
develop and conceptualize these proposals. 
  c.. Communicate with staff to prioritize funding needs; prompt staff on 
deadlines. 
  d.. Create materials to support fundraising efforts, including grant reports 
and other written materials as required. 
  e.. Participate in developing department goals, fundraising strategies and 
action plans.  Recommend methods, approaches and systems to build Board 
participation, volunteer engagement and other strategic partnerships or markets 
to significantly increase revenue from corporations, foundations and 
individuals.   
  f.. Participate in cross-training to build staff and volunteer capability to 
solicit and raise major individual corporate and foundation gifts 
  g.. Represent the ED and the program to high level supporters 
  h.. Responsible for solicitation, gift receipts, acknowledgment, follow-up 
and 
gift stewardship for all assigned prospects; maintain prospect and donor 
tracking systems. 
  i.. Helps research and organize (invitations, catering, site details, etc.) 
donor field trips; participate in selected field trips. 
  j.. Develops ideas and opportunities for activities that promote awareness of 
TIDE 
  k.. Execute schedule of events including pre-planning, the development and 
execution of timelines, staffing needs and budgets; establishes and supervises 
accounting procedures for all fundraising events. 
  l.. Ensures adequate follow-up after all events, including the collection 
with 
all names and addresses of attendees and appropriate entry on TIDEs database. 
  

  

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED: 

·         Bachelor's degree e in natural resources, business or related field 
and two to three years work experience in successful fundraising or Master's 
degree in natural resources, business or related field and one year work 
experience in successful fundraising. 

·         Impeccable English writing skills.  Fluency in Spanish is a plus. 

  a.. Demonstrated experience in computers (MS Word, Excel, Power point), 
database management skills with ability to produce budgets and reports. 
  b.. Attention to details, time management skills, ability to multi task and 
work under pressure.  Meet deadlines consistently. 
  c.. Proven communication skills. 
  d.. Ability to work with minimum supervision 
  e.. Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends.
