Hello to all,

My name is Eduardo Cuevas from Yucatán, Mexico.

I´m not a coral specialist, however, we have a project in which we are
characterizing the foraging habitat of the whale shark in the Yucatán
Peninsula, in the Mexican Caribbean. Our study are comprises an
upwelling in the north-east corner of the Yucatan Peninsula and we
recorded an increase in the SST of two grades centigrade respect to
April. My question is if this number could have any relationship with
this warm up you are talking about?

I would expect that the zone were is the upwelling would be cooler as we
approach to the summer when it is suppose to come grate amounts of water
from the sea bottom.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Hi Al et al. - we have notice here in the Florida Keys that black band
disease
is popping up a month earlier than usual. It is positively correlated
with
warm SST. This might be a bad year for our reefs in terms of disease.
