Dear Adriana and others with an interest in marine Masters courses,

If your interest in marine biology/ecology also includes a desire to
apply your knowledge to marine conservation and management, then our new
MSc in Marine Environmental Management which starts this October at the
University of York, UK might be the one for you. Being a new course
there aren’t yet any student critiques about it, but our website
explains all that we plan to do: -

The course is being run by Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation Callum
Roberts, and will introduce you to the latest thinking for achieving
long-term viability of marine resources. It will update your knowledge
on how marine ecosystems work, explore why fisheries management so often
fails and how failure can be turned into success. You’ll learn about how
marine reserves can protect ocean life and boost fishery production
whilst revitalising local communities. And of course, you’ll develop new
skills and enhance your existing ones through our programme of taught
courses and supervised research. The course will end with an exciting
summer placement that will give you hands on experience and can be done
anywhere in the world. For further details and application forms go to
the website or contact Julie Hawkins jph7 at york.ac.uk.
