[Coral-List] User Needs Survey- Global Coral Disease Database

Dear Colleagues,

You are invited to contribute to the development and redesign of the Global Coral Disease Database. The online user needs survey will take only 10 minutes to complete, following the link at the end of this email.

The Global Coral Disease Database (GCDD), the only global repository of coral disease information, was established in 2000. Since its establishment NOAA NMFS and UNEP-WCMC have worked in partnership to compile and organize published data on the occurrence of coral disease for the benefit of managers, scientists and policy makers.

Advances have been made in developing the GCDD, but further work is still needed to ensure that this data facility is reaching its full potential in providing a coral disease data resource to people both within and outside the coral reef community.  Through generous support from NOAA , UNEP-WCMC will lead activities in 2008-9 to improve  the relevance of the database to users, and build an active user base.

Identifying the needs of the potential users of the GCDD is vital in improving its use as an information resource. Please could you spare 10 minutes to answer the GCDD User Needs Survey.  It doesn't matter if you haven't used the database before, we welcome all thoughts and opinions.
