Coastal Science

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) is currently accepting
students into our summer Coral Reef Research program. This field intensive
program provides a research internship framework for students who want
experience conducting research while also learning ecology and conservation
principles. Participants explore the functional groups of reef organisms,
learn about ecologic successions, principals of reef resiliency,
sustainability, and essential theories of marine protection and management.
Students work in teams on field research project to explore the successes
and failures of marine protection. The Long-Term Assessment and Monitoring
Program (LAMP) at the Little Cayman Research Centre is the framework for
many of our population and habitat field studies. Students complete a team
research poster that may be published or presented at a national or
international conference.
