As many of you may know Phil Taylor in Ocean Sciences at NSF has taken the
Section Head job for at least a term of two years.  Dave Garrison now
heads-up Biological Oceanography, and the BO program is looking for another
rotator to fill in.  Since they already have folks covering the blue water
and phytoplankton/zooplankton they are particularly keen on getting someone
with a background in ³benthic² ecology.  It would be very good for our
community if that person had experience in coral reef biology/ecology and I
am writing to encourage people to think abut the possibility of serving at
NSF as a rotator for two years.  My own experience was very positive and I
encourage tenured faculty or folks on soft-money in mid-career to consider
this opportunity. I would be happy to answer specific questions about my own
