[Coral-List] Coral lime used with Betel nut

Acropora corals and shells of giant clam are burnt (often using mangrove
timber) in many Pacific Island states to produce lime for chewing Betel
nut.

Does anyone know of any attempt to introduce lime sourced from other less
vulnerable sources pls, or any anecdotal information on how 'chewers' find
the 'taste' of lime from other sources.
Thanks,
Kim
