Mid-Career Research Fellowships

Please contact the Director of the Australian Research Council (ARC) 
Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, 
<mailto:terry.hughes at jcu.edu.au>terry.hughes at jcu.edu.au, if you are 
interested in applying to recruit to the Centre via this exciting new 
funding scheme for mid-career researchers.
    * The Australian Research Council is offering a THOUSAND 4-year 
"Future Fellowships", 200 per year starting THIS year.  Funding rules 
for applications will be released in August 2008, with uptake in early 2009.
    * Salary of A$95K or A$135K plus $50K support paid by ARC and 
additional institutional support from the ARC Centre of Excellence 
for Coral Reef Studies.
    * Strong emphasis on mobility, moving to Australia.  Open to 
citizens of all countries. The host institution is expected to offer 
successful candidates a permanent position in year 5.
   Selection criteria are:

Investigator (50%).  Would need to have 12-20 publications depending 
on career stage

Strategic alignment (20%).  Need to demonstrate that the fellowship 
complements the research strengths of the host organization

Collaboration (20%).  Track record and plan for collaboration across 
institutions, countries, disciplines and/or industry.

Australia National Research Priority (10%).  (e.g. building areas of 
research strength, such as coral reef science)

the ICRS meeting in Fort Lauderdale, in early July.
