Vacancy Announcement - SHARK RESEARCH INTERNSHIPThe Cape Eleuthera Institute is accepting applications for the shark research program internship. This is an unpaid four month position, with dormitory-style accommodation and board provided.
Duties: The shark research intern will gain a wealth of research and work experience, working under the shark program manager. Field work will include assisting in the deployment and recovery of remote baited underwater video surveys, scientific long-line shark surveys and maintenance of an ultrasonic acoustic array. Lab work will include tape analysis and data entry, and the intern will carry out maintenance of field equipment. Interns will also assist in the field or lab on other research programs, such as flats ecology research, which fall under the Cape Eleuthera Institute.
Qualifications: Applicants should have or be completing an undergraduate degree in a marine related field or have marine research field experience. This position requires long hours of physical work in the sun – applicants must be in strong physical condition, and feel comfortable working on boats in all sea conditions.
