Salary Range: $36,000-43,079, commensurate with experience
Location: St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Basic Function and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work as
the primary staff for the Seagrant Marine Outreach Program, covering St.
Thomas, St. John, and Water Island area. The candidate will be responsible
for implementing a comprehensive outreach and environmental educational
program addressing marine habitat conservation and the impact of human
activities on marine environments; including non-point source pollution,
coastal zone restoration, sustainable fisheries and marine protected areas.
Candidate will work in partnership with external agencies such as
environmental community groups, NGO's, teachers, fisherman, local natural
resource agencies and private entities to leverage marine conservation
resources and increase involvement on all levels. He/she will be expected to
pursue other sources of funding and assigned administrative tasks. Specific
duties include administering and coordinating the NOAA General Coral Grant:
The Reef Is Closer Than You Think", website development, providing support
to interagency working groups; Virgin Islands Network of Environmental
Educators (VINE) and the St. Thomas East End Reserve(STEER) Planning Group
and, development of high school marine mini grant program and in cooperation
with other partners, act as lead coordinator for "Reef Fest" and
"Coastweeks". 
 
Qualifications: Master's of Science degree in Marine Science or related
field. 2 years of experience related to; public outreach, environmental
education and/or natural resource management. With a marine focus preferred.
Working knowledge of Caribbean marine habitats and associated organisms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, data processing, web savvy, survey
and outreach materials design, delivery and analysis. Excellent
communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and
problem-solving; Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others
Preference given to candidates with experience in socio-economic valuation
techniques and research.
