*Major Duties:*
The incumbent leads a multidisciplinary field research unit to
facilitate coral reef ecosystem monitoring, fishery independent
assessments, and fishery and habitat research in coral reef environments
in the southeastern United States including the Atlantic, Caribbean and
Gulf of Mexico. Responsibilities will include species identification;
data collection using SCUBA and small boats; integration and management
of existing databases for use in assessment; developing research
proposals, conduct statistical analyses; liaising with state and federal
agencies and allied constituents; and writing final reports and
peer-reviewed publications. The incumbent regularly is involved in
responding to inquiries both from within and outside the immediate
organization.
*Key Requirements:*

* This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle.
* Be a certified scuba diver.
