Hello list!

There is a unique employment opportunity with the US National Park
Service on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands to discuss. This is not an
official federal announcement, but an opportunity to generate interest

Buck Island Reef National Monument (www.nps.gov/buis
<http://www.nps.gov/buis>) will be seeking to hire a qualified
Biological Science Technician under the Student Career Experience
Program ( http://www.opm.gov/employ/students/intro.asp
<http://www.opm.gov/employ/students/intro.asp> ). The most attractive
applicants will be close to the completion of their degree program. The
position in a permanent full-time GS-5/6/7 position.

This position is extremely multi-disciplinary. The best candidates will
have experience in advanced scientific diving, boat operation, working
long/irregular hours, have physical and mental toughness to excel in
both tropical terrestrial and tropical marine field conditions, and a
broad range of knowledge and experience in conservation and management
issues including and associated with the following:

Exotic plant and animal eradication
Mangrove restoration
Native upland restoration
Wildlife reintroduction and management
Avian management
Threatened and endangered species management
Sea turtle research and monitoring
Tropical coral reef management
Tropical fisheries management
Spiny lobster and conch management
Geology
Water and air quality monitoring
GIS
Database management
Descriptive statistical analysis

I want to explicitly state that this position is on a small isolated US
Territory (US Virgin Islands), meaning that the applicant must be
willing to embrace the unique culture and conditions on St. Croix and
deal with a high cost of living while earning modest pay. Salary
