Dear colleagues:

Laboratory of Mikhail Matz (University of Texas at Austin) is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to solve the mystery of coral fluorescence. The length of the project is 3 years, from fall 2011 to fall 2014. GFP-like fluorescent proteins are among the most abundant and dynamically regulated proteins in a coral, but their biological function remains unclear. The project will explore fluorescence correlates in a tractable model, the coral larva, including morphological characterization (confocal microscopy, immuno-histochemistry), physiology / life history (experiments with coral larvae in the field), and systems biology (analysis of coexpressed genes using RNA-Seq methodology). An ideal candidate would have prior experience with at least two of these three fileds of study.

Deadline for applications is May 15, 2011. Contact Mikhail "Misha" Matz ( matz at mail.utexas.edu ) for more details.
