[Coral-List] Lionfish.

On a REEF-sponsored trip to the Bahamas in September 2009, we were told the largest caught there so far was 49cm, mouth to base of tail. The largest we caught there was 45cm. He barely fit in my dry bag!

Hi John,

I would say is a misprint.

The largest I found in the Bahamas was 34cm TL out of hundreds of lionfish
measured to the millimeter..

The longest found by Morris and Akins was 42.4cm TL out of more than 1000
lionfish from the Bahamas (Morris and Akins 2009)

Hope that helps

Hello to all,

Speaking of lionfish, a recent article in Dive Training magazine
mentioned lionfish being up to 1 m long (presumably 1 meter). Was this
a misprint or has a fish this long actually been observed and measured??

John
