Dear coral-listers,
we have recently completed two study focused on innate immune mechanisms
of /Pocillopora damicornis /confronted to virulent or avirulent
pathogenic bacteria from the /vibrio/ genus (/Vibrio coralliilyticus/).

The first one is entitled "Physiological responses of the scleractinian
coral /Pocillopora damicornis/ to bacterial stress from /Vibrio
coralliilyticus". /It was published in the Journal of Experimental
Biology (vol 214, pp 1533-1545). This article reports the design of
experimental procedures used to identify several genes whose expression
was modified after challenge.

The second one is entitled "Innate immune responses of a scleractinian
coral to vibriosis" (The Journal of Biological Chemistry, 286, 25,
22688-22698). This last publication describes the molecular
characterization and expression of the first AMP (antimicrobial peptide)
characterized from a scleractinian coral. In addition, it reports that
the expression of this peptide (named damicornin) is disturbed during
the infectious process.

These works are not yet in open access so feel free to contact me to get
a PDF copy.

Thanks and cheers,
Jeremie
