Dear all,

A workshop targeting graduates and undergraduates, and dedicated to
Marine Biotechnology, will be held in Genoa (Italy) on October 28th
2011. The event occurs in the frame of the 7FP SPECIAL project and of
the 2011 Genoa Science Festival.

The Open day will be a unique opportunity for grads/undergrads to meet
scientists and collaborating PhD students that work in this exciting
field and cut across a broad range of disciplines (Marine Biology,
Marine Natural Products, Biopolymers, Anticancer Research,
Invertebrate Aquaculture, Nanobiotechnology...).

The day will be structured in a very informal way to promote
networking and the direct interaction between undergrads/grads, PhD
students and primary investigators. Undergrads/grads may present their
work as a poster and are encouraged to bring along cv and any other
material they deem relevant to introduce themselves.

Three key-notes will be presented by Prof. Rui L. Reis (University of
Minho – Portugal, biopolymers), Prof. Werner Müller (University of
Mainz – Germany, marine nanobiotechnology) and Dr. Andrea Alimonti
(Atrahasis srl – Italy, anticancer approaches). Additional oral
presentations and demonstrations by PhD students from the project will
be given in the afternoon session. The entire SPECIAL consortium will
attend. All contributions, including posters, will become part of the
workshop e-proceedings.

THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE.
YET, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED AND SHALL BE DONE BY OCTOBER 10th 2011.

Genoa may be easily reached by several of low-cost flights. One youth
hostel and many cheap hotels and B&B are available for students
travelling on a low budget. A simple buffet will be given during the
Open day. The Genoa Science Festival, the local food and wines and the
lively city night scene will perfectly complement your stay!
