Hi Alina,

One small observation, we are not saying iron is directly toxic to
corals....only that it stimulates algae growth which can sometimes (as you
know) compete with coral.

Additionally, when it comes to iron substrate for corals, it is not uncommon
for larger corals to be "sluffed off" as the iron rusts and the base of the
coral can be lost....effectively terminating the colony's life earlier than
natural biology might have intended.  I have seen entire railroad boxcars
used as artificial reefs that had corals but within 10 years collapsed
entirely.
