Post-doctoral associate position at the Centre Scientifique de Monaco,
Director Prof. Denis Allemand (CSM; http://www.centrescientifique.mc)

A postdoctoral associate position is available at the Centre Scientifique de
Monaco in the Physiology/Biochemistry team led by Dr Sylvie Tambutté
(Director of the CSM: Prof. Denis Allemand CSM;
http://www.centrescientifique.mc). The team works on biomineralization and
symbiosis at molecular, cellular and organism levels in Cnidarians and more
specifically in Corals.  The team’s research concerns the mechanisms of
skeleton formation including the mechanisms of ion transport and deposition,
the role of organic matrix and the role of the symbiotic relationship
between the host animal and its photosynthetic partner.
The post-doctoral associate will work on the characterization of
intercellular junctions involved in ion paracellular permeability and
intercellular communication. Molecular resources are now available for
corals, and the project will build on these to better understand the
molecular mechanisms underlying key aspects of coral biology. After
molecular characterization, the approach will  involve determining the
epithelial localization of the junctions and their functional
properties/regulation.

Net Salary level: 2570 Euros (health and accident insurance are provided by
CSM)
Location: Centre Scientifique de Monaco, Avenue Saint-Martin, 98000 Monaco
Closing Date for applications: 15 November 2011
Interviews: in the first two weeks of December 2011
Decision date: 15 December 2011
Appointment period: Ideal start date is beginning of 2012, One year in the
first instance

Selection criteria include:
- PhD degree obtained after 2008 in related discipline,
- relevant research experience with research ability in molecular biology
and cellular physiology that can be applied to characterize intercellular
junctions in corals,
- excellent publication record in molecular biology and cellular physiology.
- demonstrated ability to collaborate in addition to effective interpersonal
and communication skills.
