   Dear Listers,


   Just for clarification, my characterization of coral scientists as "an odd
   bunch"

   was simply a clumsy attempt at humor. It was not representative of my true

   opinion of this community, nor was I meaning to sound condescending. I view

   marine scientists with great respect and want nothing more than to encourage

   my industry to react responsibly to what the great body of your collective
   work

   on coral reef ecology is disclosing.
