Research Fellowship

The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies has been awarded a second round of funding for the next 7 years, and will soon be advertising 10-12 new Postdoctoral Fellowships across a range of disciplines. These new positions will be based at James Cook University, the University of Queensland, and the University of Western Australia.

We have one early to mid-career position ready to fill now, based at JCU in Townsville. We are looking for a candidates with some postdoctoral research experience, and a track record of publication at the interface between quantitative macroecology, evolution and biogeography. Experience with marine systems is an advantage, but is less important than a proven capacity to undertake and publish cutting edge research in this area. The successful applicant will be expected to develop their own research project on coral reef biogeography, and to work in collaboration with an existing team focussed on Indo-Pacific and Caribbean fishes and corals, led by David Bellwood, Sean Connolly and Terry Hughes.

A short-list of candidates will be interviewed. As a first step, potential applicants should email their CV and a 1-2 page statement of their current and future research interests to David.Bellwood at jcu.edu.au<mailto:David.Bellwood at jcu.edu.au>, ideally before Friday May 16th.

Generous research funds, assistance with visa application, and relocation costs will be provided to successful candidates. The position is for 3-years initially, with a starting salary of approximately US$75,000.

The ARC Centre, headquartered at JCU, currently supports 45 postdoctoral fellows and over 200 PhD students. The Centre fosters a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional approach to its research programs drawing on expertise from its collaborating universities and other national and international partners. It's a happening place. Additional information: www.coralcoe.org.au<http://www.coralcoe.org.au>
