Two positions available now in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reefs

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies is seeking applications for two senior positions, Assistant Director and Communications Manager.

The ARC Centre is a world leading coral reef research group, encompassing >250 researchers and graduate students, with ongoing research projects in 30 countries. The Centre is administered by James Cook University in partnership with the Australian National University, the University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia. The vision of the Centre is to provide the scientific knowledge necessary for understanding the world's coral reefs and their interaction with people in order to foster their sustainable use, secure the benefits they provide to tropical societies and economies, and enhance the effectiveness of coral reef management world-wide.

The Assistant Director will be a member of the management team of the Centre of Excellence, based in Townsville, Queensland. The position will provide academic leadership and foster excellence in research/consultancy in the Centre and within JCU. The position will be the key contact person for academic matters relating to the postgraduate students and research fellows in the Centre. Key matters of relevance include performance management, mentoring and grant writing. We are seeking an academic leader with an excellent research track record, an international reputation, and extensive research management experience in an area of broad relevance to the ARC Centre.

The Communications Manager will plan and implement strategic and operational marketing and communications activities online and in print to promote and profile the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies internationally. The Communications Manager will be the key contact point for all critical communications for the ARC Centre of Excellence. We are seeking a communications professional with extensive communications and management experience, including media and stakeholder engagement.
