The Great Barrier Reef is currently experiencing its fourth outbreak of
Crown of Thorns Starfish since the 1960s, causing substantial coral loss. We
are seeking proposals for innovative projects aimed at discovering novel and
practical methods of controlling Crown-of-Thorns Starfish populations.
Up to four grants, each valued up to AU$25,000, will be awarded in the
inaugural round of funding for field work to be conducted at the Australian
Museum's Lizard Island Research Station between 1 January and 31 December
2015. These grants are funded by the Ian Potter Foundation 50th Anniversary
Commemorative Grants scheme.
Closing date is 19 September 2014.
