Hello Coral Listers!
We are running a session on issues surrounding wastewater and sewage pollution on coral reefs. The session has been titled: Coastal Pollution: Nutrients, Sewage, and Contaminants.
The session description is below. If you are doing work related to this topic – we would love for you to submit an abstract to our session (Session # 163). Please contact me with any questions. A few links and papers that inspired this session are at the end of this message.

Coral reef and coastal resource managers around the world are challenged to restrain the incursion of development into coastal reefs while providing for the growth of society in adjacent coastal areas. This session is designed to share new understanding, tools and successful approaches toward more effective water quality management from municipal wastewater or sewage discharge activities. Conceptually, this session will focus on two main topics—sewage impacts on coral and presenting a spectrum of wastewater treatment solutions— and present analysis, scalable options and alternatives to achieve best performance with the lowest traditional and ecological costs while embracing the benefits of natural capital.
