The UH Manoa Outreach College’s Science In Action program is holding a brand new course this summer for high school students entitled, “environmental sustainability in Hawaii from mauka to makai.”

The course will be held 8:30am-11:45am June 22-July 3 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus. Topics include watersheds, invasive species, marine debris, sustainable agriculture, and climate change. Class time will be a combination of field trips, laboratory experiments, and hands-on activities. Students will have the opportunity to formulate and test their own hypotheses over a 2 week experiment and will present their findings at a course symposium at the end of the week.

This is a great opportunity for high school students interested in science to get hands-on experience and prepare for advanced classes, college, and internships or jobs in environmental science.
