[Coral-List] MSc and PhD opportunities in Brazil

 The Zoology Department of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), located
in Curitiba, Brazil, is looking for highly motivated Msc. and PhD
candidates to work on a project focusing on the conservation of coral
populations along the Brazilian coast. Candidates must understand written
and spoken Portuguese, but fluency is not required. Students from Latin
America and Lusophone Africa are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidates will work on a project fully funded by the
non-profit Fundação Boticário de Proteção à Natureza. The project involves
extensive field collections in marine reserves encompassing most of the
Brazilian coast and lab work with next-generation sequencing. Previous
experience with scientific diving and/or genetics is desirable, but not
mandatory.

Curitiba is a beautiful, multicultural city that ranks consistently among
the top ten cities to live in Brazil. Surrounded by lush Atlantic Forest,
it enjoys easy access to an international airport and it is linked by major
highways to the scenic beaches of Paraná and Santa Catarina states. UFPR is
a centenary institution and one of the top Brazilian research universities.
Funding (2 years for MSc and 4 years for PhD students) is guaranteed.
