Hi coral-listers,
I've just posted some thoughts on the immense challenge facing the planet, prompted by the massive bleaching now winding down on the Great Barrier Reef.  I don't say much about reefs in this one, but do comment on how environmental issues, such as saving the GBR, are seldom seen by politicians, or the bulk of voters, as important as jobs, economy, or national security.  Yet if we look at our population challenge, our economic challenge and our environmental challenge together, things get really scary, and scientists who try to present the big picture while reporting their own research results risk being labeled extremist.
