Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii has an opening for Marine Natural Resources Management Specialist. This position is a chance to be a key member in a team that is working on a large Environmental Impact Statement and associated environmental compliance documents for a major Department of Defense action in the Mariana Islands. The project is very challenging, but it has high visibility and will likely be a landmark action for the US Government in the Pacific. This is a significant opportunity for a marine resources manager to apply ecological principles and management techniques to the development of plans for restoration, mitigation, and monitoring of marine resources, especially coral reefs. Information about the specific action the incumbent would be supporting can be found at: http://www.cnmijointmilitarytrainingeis.com/.

The position is a permanent GS-12 position with the Department of the Navy. It is not an entry level position. The incumbent will need to have a working knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act and interagency consultations for:
- Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act
- Essential Fish Habitat under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act
- Section 404 permitting under the Clean Water Act

The incumbent will also need to work well with a team, be receptive to new ideas, manage several complex projects simultaneously, and have excellent communication skills. This position is primarily a resource management position that emphasizes interpersonal interaction and project management. There is limited time in the field and diving is not included in the job activities. Travel may be required up to 25% time.
