We'd like to bring your attention to a new position based at The Deep in Hull, UK in collaboration with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to support marine conservation and education.

Marine IUCN Red List Officer located at The Deep (Hull, UK)

The Deep is recruiting for a Marine Officer in a new project with the IUCN Marine Biodiversity Unit. The overall focus is to help achieve the goal of assessing the extinction risk of 20,000 marine species by 2020.

This is a permanent contract at 39 hours per week. Applications are due February 8, 2015 at 9 am GMT. Primary responsibilities include species-specific background research to assist with the Red Listing process, organizing and facilitating international workshops and meetings, and writing proposals, reports and scientific papers. In addition, the successful candidate will assist with the development and delivery of a conservation education programme for the general public as part of The Deep's education remit.  Further responsibilities include advising and assisting in the development of a model to encourage other aquariums to further engage with Red Listing and to showcase The Deep's leadership in this effort. This position will report to both the IUCN Global Marine Species Assessment (GMSA) Manager and The Deep's Curator.

The position is located at The Deep, a state-of-the-art aquarium and the world's only submarium located in Hull, United Kingdom. The Deep is also a charitable aquarium and serves as a center for marine research.
