FACULTY POSITION: Marine Biology

Florida Institute of Technology (http://www.fit.edu<https://ex.fit.edu/owa/redir.aspx?REF=yH4oXWhxpQmgSpKvOckfOKb2pCBouJAu2lgXFb1kms-M24YvR4LTCAFodHRwOi8vd3d3LmZpdC5lZHU.>), an independent university located on Florida’s east coast, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the area of marine biology, with emphasis on quantitative or technological approaches to topical issues in the field. Start-date can be as early as August 2016. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree and a publication record. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to population and conservation genetics, behavior and behavioral ecology, global change, bioinformatics, marine diseases, and spatial ecology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program. Teaching duties will include courses that support our undergraduate and graduate programs; graduate courses especially will reflect the applicant’s expertise.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers undergraduate options in Marine Biology and Aquaculture. Graduate programs include a master’s in marine biology, a professional master’s in Conservation Technology, and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. The Department shares Florida Tech’s goal of involving undergraduates in basic and applied research. Current research includes studies of coral reefs, sensory biology, ecomorphology, invertebrate zoology, climate change, invasive species, molecular biology of fertilization, fisheries science, Antarctic ecosystems, and benthic ecology.
