The Department of Biology (http://unf.edu/coas/biology/) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) seeks to fill 3 tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level (1. Functional Genomics, 2. Coastal Ecology and 3. Vascular Plant Biology) to begin August 1, 2017. Competitive salary and start-up package will be offered, commensurate with training and experience. 1.     Assistant Professor in Functional Genomics

Functional Genomics - The Department of Biology (http://unf.edu/coas/biology/) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 1, 2017. We seek an outstanding scientist who will use or show a strong potential to develop genome manipulation techniques to address functional questions at any biological level. The Biology Department hosts an active pre-medical training program, a strong Flagship Program in Coastal & Marine Biology, and a vital Masters of Science program.

Teaching responsibilities include introductory level courses, Genetics, and upper level courses in the specialty. Preference will be given to individuals with the ability to teach a course in Bioinformatics. Research responsibilities include developing a productive, externally funded research program. All faculty also contribute to the Department's service mission. The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline with teaching or research experience. 2.     Assistant Professor in Coastal Ecology

The Department of Biology (http://unf.edu/coas/biology/) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 1, 2017. We are searching for an outstanding scientist who studies the ecology of coastal, estuarine or marine systems.

The UNF Department of Biology offers baccalaureate degrees in Biology with areas of concentration in, Coastal Biology, Ecology and Evolution, Molecular/Cell Biology and Biomedical Sciences. Masters level degrees are also offered with a focus on Coastal/Marine Biology, Ecology/Evolutionary Biology or Microbiology/Molecular Biology. Furthermore, because many Biology faculty conduct research focused on coastal and marine ecosystems and wildlife, the department has been designated as a center for excellence in this field via development of the Flagship Program in Coastal and Marine Biology.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching (General Biology, Ecology and specialty upper level courses), maintaining an active, externally funded research program and contributing to the department's service mission. The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline with evidence of a significant research program. Evidence of teaching experience is preferred.

We are searching for an outstanding scientist who utilizes vascular plants to address important questions in evolution, ecology, systematics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, or environmental biology.
