Dear Coral-List,

To encourage the sharing, consolidation, publication of new research, and updated information on seagrass in the Southeast Asian region, we are pleased to announce a Special Issue of Botanica Marina<https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/botm> to mark the World Seagrass Conference and 13th International Seagrass Biology Workshop to be held in Singapore from 11 to 17 June, 2018.

Seagrasses worldwide have faced drastic declines over the past few decades due to a range of anthropogenic and climatic impacts. This is especially apparent in Southeast Asia where human pressures have grown with the burgeoning populations in many coastal zones. The Southeast Asian region has the highest diversity of seagrass species in the world but accurate and reliable estimates of seagrass cover and extent in this region are hampered by the paucity of long term monitoring data and freely available information.

This Special Issue is open to all contributors with original research relating to seagrasses in this region. We accept papers in the formats of reviews, research articles or short communications. Potential contributors must follow Botanica Marina's instruction to authors<https://www.degruyter.com/view/supplement/s14374323_Instructions_for_authors.pdf> prior to submission. We encourage authors to submit their publications early; submissions that are accepted after the initial review process will be made available online first.

Deadlines:

Manuscripts should be submitted through the Botanica Marina online portal<https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/botmar> by October 15th, 2017. Please indicate in the cover letter that the submission is for the special issue "ISBW13- SEA seagrasses".

Managing guest editors:

Dr. Siti Maryam Yaakub, DHI Water & Environment, Singapore

Dr. Pimchanok Buapet, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand

Dr. Jillian Ooi Lean Sim, University of Malaya, Malaysia

Dr. Richard Unsworth, Swansea University, United Kingdom
