Just a quick follow up.

I thought this piece from SECORE International summed up many of the concerns raised in relation to the question of what restoration efforts can and can not do. The final few paragraphs put the emphasis where it should be and all I’m saying is that this has not been clearly articulated. Too many outside of the scientific community are under the impression that restoration could be a cure-all and therefore we need not be overly concerned with addressing the stressors themselves. That is not the fault of the researchers, but somehow the general public needs to be constantly made aware of the limitations. This is no way diminishes restoration efforts, it would simply put them in the proper perspective while emphasizing the fact that local and global stressors can not be ignored.
