[Coral-List] vote now to help us get a coral genome sequenced

Dear coral-list members,



Arne Adam, from the TrEnD lab at Curtin University, recently entered a PacBio video competition to win a free whole genome sequencing service.



The competition scope was to make a ‘creative' 90 sec video showcasing the species you want to sequence and why.



We are keen to sequence Isopora brueggemanni which is an important reef building coral and sister to the highly threatened Acropora corals. With the whole genome of Isopora, we will be able to do comparative genomics with Acropora and answer a whole range of functional and phylogeographic questions. By making the genome publicly available we also anticipate it will be an important genomic resource for wider applications.



It would be fantastic if you could take 30 sec to vote for his project (don’t worry voting does not mean you will get PacBio marketing)..... please also check out his 90 sec video :)



Where possible it would also be fantastic if you can distribute across your networks to further our common goal of preserving precious marine biodiversity.
