[Coral-List] Proposal that ICRS supports the organization of remote meetings for ICRS 2020

Dear Fran,
This is an incredibly generous offer!

Let me know if my computer and I can help as, among other venues, I’d already indicated via the coral-list that I had very reluctantly decided to forgo the many attractions of the Brenem conference next summer. I don’t have much spare time to offer this year, but an opportunity to send a strong signal that our community is really committed to reducing its carbon burden is too important to overlook.

Best wishes to everyone,
Judy Lang

How can we convince them to radically change the way they do things to a more sustainable way if we dont do it ourselves.

This week I gave my current employer, School for Field Studies, a notice that I will resign from my current job as Marine Ecology Faculty by mid december in order to focus my time and energy on climate solutions. I have the financial cushion to volunteer a year's time (or maybe more) to this cause and see it as my duty to do so, as we wont be able to solve this crisis without pulling available resources and thinking power together. Hopefully soon our leaders will realize this as well and start funneling money towards these kinds of jobs and projects. As part of my "climate sabbatical", I could help or lead the organization of a remote meeting for my region which is currently the wider caribbean. I have been part of the organization comittee of three international conferences so far and am currently the chair of the sustainab

The emissions saved and more importantly the strong message this will send to our world leaders will make this a worthwhile project to focus on during my sabbatical.
