Please consider submitting an abstract to the 2023 AGU Fall meeting session OS004 - Advancing Coral Biology, Ecology, and Paleoceanography Through the Use of Geochemical Tools.

Geochemical tools can be powerful in studying the biology, ecology, and paleoceanography of ocean ecosystems, especially in the face of climate change. Climate change affects the oceans through both ocean warming and ocean acidification, and corals are especially sensitive to these changes. Geochemical tools such as stable isotopes, radiocarbon, and trace elements can be used to better understand coral biology, to determine how living corals are responding to climate change, to study trophic ecology of corals, and to reconstruct recent climate change events. The use of isotopes in coral ecology is not new but can be utilized in new ways to fully understand the biology and ecology of shallow and deep-water corals in the tropical, temperate, and polar waters, as well as the recent oceanographic changes that these organisms record.
